IN MEMORIAM: Robin Joy Hartzel, 64;

Oneonta Native Was Artist, Navy Veteran

Robin Hartzel served in Naval Intelligence.

ONEONTA – Oneonta native Robin Joy Hartzel, 64, of Evansville, Ind., a Navy veteran and artist, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital there.

She was born Aug. 25, 1955, in Oneonta, to the late Clifford and Anni (Bech) Gray. Robin was very proud of her Danish heritage.

Robin loved to camp. She was very artistic and used her artistic skills to carve realistic life-like scenes out of walnut shells which led to the creation of “Life in a Nutshell,” a business listed on Etsy.com

She worked in the intelligence field while serving in the Navy.

Robin is survived by her husband of 41 years, Martin Hartzel; son, Adam Hartzel; daughter, Kristina (Brandon) Rapp; grandchildren, Anni, Kaira and Brynn; and two brothers and three sisters.

Due to the current pandemic, there will be no services. Final arrangements will be handled by Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel.
