COOPERSTOWN – Twenty-six county job cuts are down to 22.

A majority of Otsego County representatives today took an informal vote to restore three full-time jobs that would be eliminated if the 2016 tentative budget is passed by the full board.

During what was termed a work session on the budget, the reps also voted to restore one part-time position.

Under the tentative budget presented by Treasurer Dan Crowell, the county would have eliminated 16 full-time positions and ten part-timers.

If the revisions are formally adopted, one full-time job each woujld be saved in DMV, the Department of Aging, and Building Services.   Two parttime jobs would be saved at the waste transfer station.

“The next steps with be the budget hearing at the end of this month,” said Crowell. “Then on the first Wednesday in December the full board will vote” on the final spending package.

The tentative budget calls for spending $99.5 million and raises property taxes 0.69%.

Ten out of 13 current reps attended the workshop.
