Of Shifting Meetings To Evenings

COOPERSTOWN – Kay Stuligross’ perhaps quixotic effort to move county board meetings from mornings to evenings was stopped short at the county Board of Representatives reorganizational meeting today.

The Oneonta Democrat made the motion to change the monthly meeting from 10 a.m. to a time between 5 and 7.  The motion required a two-thirds vote, but receive support from only four of the 14 reps.  Ten voted no.

In making the motion, Stuligross reasoned that the morning meeting prevented people who work for a living from running for the county board.  Also, evening meetings would be easier for the working public to attend.
