BOCES Serving Western Otsego
NORWICH – DCMO BOCES today announced the selection of Perry T. Dewey III, Madison Central School superintendent, as superintendent after a seven-month search. He succeeds William Tammaro, who retired in April 2015.
While based in Chenango County, that BOCES serves Gilbertsville-Mount Upton and Unadilla Valley central school districts, which include parts of Otsego County, as well as Sidney. His Otsego County counterpart is ONC BOCES Superintendent Nick Savin.
Dewey is a native of Sherman, in Chautauqua County, and certified by the state Education Department in school district administration. He and wife Sue have two children, Theresa and Danielle.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Professional Studies Agriculture Technology in Education from Empire State College and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from St. Bonaventure University.
As Madison Central superintendent for four years, he implemented a strategic plan that resulted in a full-day prekindergarten program, a college and career ready program that led to Bronze-level District status from U.S. US News and World report, and a first student receiving an associate’s degree from Tompkins Cortland Community College.
Previously, he was principal at the Tompkins Seneca Tioga BOCES, and, at Cornell University was director of Agriculture Outreach and Education, lecturer in the Department of Education, and interim director of Educational Resource Programs.
