INDUCTION WEEKEND 2018

52,000 Puts This Year’s

Class At Second Biggest

Not only was the Hall of Fame Induction Class of 2018 the biggest since 1971, it was watched by the second-biggest crowd on record: 52,000, the Hall estimates, second only to Ripken-Gwynn’s 2007 record of 83,000. Posing with their plaques a few minutes ago are, from left, Vladimir Guerrero, Trevor Hoffman, Chipper Jones, Jack Morris, Alan Trammel and Jim Thome.  Absent this year was Homer Osterhoudt, (inset photo) who passed away June 30 at age 100, having attending all but three Inductions since the first in 1939.  His son Darrell and daughter-in-law Priscilla reserved a seat for him nonetheless.
