IN MEMORIAM: Ann Eckler, 66, Milford;
Worked At Her Family’s Oasis Restaurant
MILFORD – Ann M. Eckler, 66, a waitress at her family’s Oasis Restaurant in Oneonta and later a correctional officer, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2019, at Bassett Hospital.
She was born Nov. 8, 1952, in Oneonta, the daughter of Joseph Gerald and Betty Elizabeth (Banner) Monser.
Ann graduated from Oneonta High School, Class of 1970. She married Donald L. Eckler on Nov. 15, 1970 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oneonta.
Ann was a waitress at her family’s restaurant, the Oasis (site of the current-day Iron Chef Grill on Chestnut Street) and also for many years at the Homestead in Colliersville. She retired from the county Sheriff’s Department, where she was a corrections officer.
Ann was a member of the Milford Emergency Squad and the Oneonta Softball League. She was an avid horseback rider. Ann lived her life to fullest, and will be dearly missed by her horseback riding family and her Homestead family, as well as many others.
She is survived by her husband, Don Eckler; her daughters, Casey Eckler (Andy Jones) and Carey Eckler-Sutphin; granddaughter, Alexis Sutphin “Her Little Lulu” and her father, Billy Sutphin; the son she never had, Mike Kiser (Tiffany Crandall); her sister, Deborah Whitehead (Mike Fitch); a special uncle, George and Sue Monser; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and her little dog, Raisin and all her beloved four-legged animals.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Peggy Monser and numerous aunts and uncles.
In lieu of calling hours, Ann’s wish was for you to do something special with your loved ones in her honor.
Friends are invited to join Ann’s family in celebrating her life at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 14, at the Milford Fire Department, 64 So. Main St., Milford. Comfortable and casual attire is appropriate.

Met Ann & Don at OCCF. Both were so human and understanding.. Worked a while with Kelly.. A great family and a great lady,, My condolences and prayers.
I remember going roller skating with Ann when we were 12 years old. I won a raffle that night of corelle dishes, I still have them to this day. We had a lot of laughs together, all through high school.
I remember coming to your house with Moe when she babysat your daughter and many times with your sister Deb. You were always so nice. You will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers to your family.
