HARTWICK SEMINARY – The World T.E.A.M. Sports’ Can-Am Veterans Challenge pedaled into Hartwick Seminary this afternoon on the fifth day of a 14-day charity ride that will end with a ceremony on the steps of the Capitol on the Fourth of July. The group will then ride in Washington D.C.’s Independence Day parade.

The bike ride is affiliated with Wounded Warriors, a U.S.-Canadian organization the helps injured veterans on both sides of the border, according to Van Brinson, World T.E.A.M. Sports CEO.

The group 18 Americans, six Canadians and a Dane departed last Friday from Ottawa, overnighting in Perth and Kingston, Ont., then crossing the border to Watertown and, last night, Rome.

Tomorrow the veterans are taking a day off. They plan to visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame at 4 p.m, then fan out to enjoy Cooperstown’s offerings. At 8 a.m. Thursday, they head south through Oneonta to Binghamton.

Friday, they intend to reach Wilkes-Barre, Pa. and then will proceed to Pottsville, Reading and Gettysburg, Pa., then Frederick, Md., and Arlington, Va., before arriving in the nation’s capital on the Fourth.
