DAVENPORT – Lewis L. Garrison, 76, who owned and operated a dairy farm since age 16, of Davenport, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2016,  surrounded by his family at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Jamie Garrison.

He was born March 10, 1940, in Oneonta the son of the late Lyle F. and Louise M. (Eichler) Garrrison.

Even as he farmed every day, he also went to school, graduating from Otego Central.  He enjoyed making maple syrup in the spring and going to auctions in his spare time.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Rosanna Garrison, Davenport; six children, Mary (Duane) Everitt, New Berlin, Lyle (Tina) Garrison, Davenport, Paul (Becky) Garrison, Davenport, Kristine (Brendan) Exum, Cecilia, Ky., Jeffrey (Jamie) Garrison, Davenport and Donald Garrison, Sr., Davenport; 13 grandchildren, Garrison, Andrew, Karena, Honnah, Alyssa, Damon, Donald, Jr., Toby, Ethan, Zachary, Joshua, Nathanial and Gabriel; one sister, Margaret (Robert) Mennillo, Simsbury, Conn.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Friday, Sept. 23, at the Oneonta Assembly of God Church, 1667 Route 48, Oneonta. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, also at the Assembly of God, with Rev. John Grenier officiating. Burial will follow in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to either the American Diabetes Association , 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 or to the American Heart Association , PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 in loving memory of Lewis L. Garrison.

  1. You will be missed Uncle Lewie! I’m so glad we were able to visit you last year when we were home! You were always one of my favorite people to listen to-your stories always made me laugh. I’m sorry we didn’t make it home this year in time to see you. Rest in peace-love you!
