Robert W. Moyer, 84; CEO

At Wilber Bank For 25 Years

ONEONTA – Robert W. Moyer, 84, who as president of the former Wilber National Bank was a leading business figure in Otsego County for a quarter-century,  passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2016.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, which is preparing a full obituary.

Bob moved his family to Oneonta in April 1965, when he became an assistant trust officer at Key Bank.  He soon joined Wilber bank and quickly rose through the ranks.  He served as chief executive officer from 1972 until his retirement in 1997, and was vice chairman of the bank board for many years, according to his Bloomberg profile.

Wilber Bank merge with Community Bank in 2011.

Mr. Moyer and his wife, Joan, raised three children locally, and were mainstays in Oneonta community and civic life for decades, serving on boards of many of the city’s key institutions.  She passed away on July 28, 2014.

Among other activities, he was a longtime Rotarian and Hartwick College trustee.
