Destination Oneonta Honors

Carla Balnis’ Volunteerism

Carla Balnis, left, is recognized for outstanding volunteer contributions by Destination Oneonta Treasurer Rachel Jessup at DO’s annual meeting  Wednesday evening Roots Brewing on Main Street.  Carla, a member of the DO Events Committee, helps plan free public events like First Night, Fabulous Fridays, the Susquehanna Balloon Fest, holiday parades, the tree lighting ceremony, the gingerbread house competition and more. “She is full of great ideas that take our Events Committee above and beyond so we don’t become stale.” said Jessup. “She always is giving her time without question. If I am in need of a performer, she knows somebody. She does so much and she volunteers her time for it all.”  Destination Oneonta also announced its new officers; Dave Weaver (Gordon Roberts), president; Faith Teimann SUNY Oneonta, vice president; Kirsten Oehl (Hartwick College), secretary, and Rachel Jessup (Bank of Cooperstown), treasurer.
