IN MEMORIAM: Edward W. Losee, 88;

Machinist, Korea Veteran, Firefighter

EDMESTON – Edward R. Losee, 88, of Edmeston, a Korean War veteran and volunteer firefighter, passed away Wednesday March 22, 2017 in Herkimer, NY following an extended illness.

Edward was born in Eastchester, Westchester County, on Nov. 18, 1928, the son of the late Edward Samuel and Bertha Weiss Losee. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his siblings: Robert Losee, Frank Losee, and Florence France.

Edward married Francis Jean Mumbulo in Edmeston, on Dec. 11, 1953. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Donald Losee (Karen) of Edmeston, Karen Lewis (Gary) of MI, and Carol Archer of Edmeston.  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Christopher Losee, Matthew (Heather) Losee, Calvin Lewis, Jake (Lacey) Lewis, great-grandchildren: Mackenna Losee, and Maddie Losee,  his sister Alice Talbot of Cooperstown, and several nieces and nephews.

A machinist by trade, working 28 years for Kelsey Hayes of Utica, Edward served in the Army in the Korean War and was a member of The American Legion, as well as serving for many years with the Edmeston Fire Department. In addition, he was a member and one-time deacon at the Second Baptist Church of Edmeston.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Delker & Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, with Pastor Jay Henderson of the Burlington Flats Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Edmeston Union Cemetery in the spring.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
