NYC Steamfitter Retired To Oneonta

Albert Schrag

DAVENPORT – Albert Schrag, 84, of Davenport, a former security guard at Homer Folks Hospital, passed away on April 30, 2017, at Bassett Hospital after battling a long illness.

Albert was born in Queens and spent most his career working as a New York City  steamfitter. He also served as a fire commissioner of the North Merrick Fire Department.  After retirement Al worked as a security guard the Oneonta TB hospital.

Albert loved music and loved to dance, he enjoyed the beauty of horses, and loved to watch western movies.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Schrag of Davenport; his daughter, Linda Fischer and her partner, Joseph “Clyde” Gregory, of Oneonta; his step-daughter, Debra Ost of Schenevus, and stepson, Hernan Rodriguez Jr. and wife, Tempie Rodriguez of Arcadia, Ind. His grandkids are Mikaela, Danielle and Kacie Ost and Hernan Rodriguez III and Curtis Rodriguez.

There will be a Celebration of Life and brief memorial in Albert’s honor 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 5, at  the Elks Club 84-86 Chestnut St, Oneonta, NY 13820.
