IN MEMORIAM: Denise M. Darlin, 66;

Oneonta Resident Enjoyed Birds, Plants

ONEONTA – Denise M. Darlin, 66, who was known for her beautiful plants and home, passed away May 7, 2017 with her devoted daughter and son-in-law by her side, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born September 24, 1950 in Sidney the daughter of the late Clarence and Jane (Hungerford) Darlin.

Denise worked from 1974-2001 for Custom Electronics where she was awarded many certificates of perfect attendance, Mac Laser Technologies 2002-2006 and lastly at Ericson Fired Arts Inc.


Denise enjoyed spending most of her time with her daughter on their weekly shopping adventures, lawn sales and occasionally going to auctions. She also loved the times she spent at the Darlin family home by the river in Wells Bridge. Denise was a fun loving person who spoke from the heart and always had a beautiful smile. One of Denise’s greatest achievements was her sobriety of 13 years. She took pride in beautifying her home inside and out with flowers and plants. Denise enjoyed the companionship of her bird, Buddy.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy and son-in-law, Richard Goodspeed of Oneonta, brother Dennis and sister-in-law, Daughn Darlin of Wells Bridge, brother, Steve Darlin and girlfriend, Anne McCathran of Florida; nephew, Danny (Danette) Darlin and their son, Jacob of Virginia; niece, Darla (Kevin) Byrne and their children, Kaela and Ciara of Florida; and nephew, Matthew Darlin of Florida.

A private graveside service, per Denise’s request, will be held in the Sand Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours or funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susquehanna SPCA, 4845 State Highway 28, Cooperstown, New York 13326.

In Memoriam: Jane M. Sheldon

Born March 5, 1956, in Levittown, Long Island, Jane was the youngest daughter of William J. and Jane (Mulz) Morris.
