IN MEMORIAM: ‘Aunt Bet’ Davenport, 79;

Worked At Oneonta Dress Factory, Sanyo

ONEONTA – Beverly V. “Aunt Bet” Davenport, 79, a seamstress at Oneonta Dress Factory and Sanyo for more than 40 years, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City.

She was born Nov. 13, 1939, in Roxbury, daughter of the late Howard and Grace (Burgher) Oliver.

Beverly loved to go dancing and listening to country and western music. She had a special sense of humor and spent her life making everyone laugh. But what brought Beverly the most joy was her family. She always looked forward to family get-togethers and picnics in the park.

Beverly is survived by her three brothers, Howard Oliver Jr., Otego, Gordon Oliver, Sidney Center and Robert Oliver, Sidney; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Ruling, Helen Barlow and Ruth Ann Allen.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Maj. (ret.) James Smith of the Salvation Army officiating.
Burial will be in the spring in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
