ATV Rider From Long Island Dies

From Injuries Suffered In Crash

NEW LISBON – Joshua M. Theisen, 24, Medford, Suffolk County, died Wednesday from injuries sustained Sunday in an ATV accident, county Sheriff’s Deputies report.

Investigation found that Theisen, who was visiting the area for the weekend, was traveling westbound on Jones Road approximately one half east of the North Welcome Road intersection on a 1998 Honda TRX300FW 4×4 ATV when he lost control of the vehicle and the ATV left the roadway going into a drainage ditch.

Theisen, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was ejected off of the quad which landed on top of him. He suffered a severe head injury as a result of the crash.

The Garrattsville and Hartwick Emergency Squads were dispatched to the scene and arrived within minutes providing medical care. Theisen was transported Bassett Hospital, where he died of his injuries Thursday afternoon.

Otsego County Coroner James Dow assisted Sheriff’s Office investigators with the investigation.
