The Otsego County Fair features
tractor pull, demolition derby

The Otsego County Fair has opened. Stop by for rides, games, food, livestock shows and more. Events include the demolition derby, tractor pulls (antique and NYTPA), horse shows, karaoke and more. Visit with the infamous abolitionist and suffragette, Lucretia Mott, as portrayed by a living historian. Mott lived in the 1840s and was an ardent abolitionist. She became active in the women’s rights movement after being barred from the world anti-slavery convention and meeting Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

Catskill Puppet Theater presents ‘The Villain’s Moustache’, an old-time melodrama set in the 1930s featuring hobos, showgirls and an over-the-top villain. Audience participation is encouraged, whether it’s booing the villain, or shouting advice at the poor, unfortunate heroine. A fun show for all audiences. Free, registration required. Celebrate the 101st anniversary of the Huntington Memorial Library and its move to its current building after the gift by Henry Huntington. Learn about Huntington’s legacy
and impact on Oneonta with city historian Mark Simonson, as well as his love of books, gardening and art. The first 100 guests will receive a free plant. At Huntington Park, behind the library. Gun lovers are invited to browse through guns from more than 100 dealers. Come buy, sell or trade, just follow the rules. There’s even some stuff for the people who aren’t interested in the guns. Learn how the ice age affected our region of the Catskills from the local experts on the subject. Robert and Johanna Titus have three published books including “The Catskills in the Ice Age,” which is now in its third edition. They also run a blog on local geology.
