IN MEMORIAM:  Betsy J. Snyder, 81;

Financial Manager For Medical Group

COOPERSTOWN – Betsy J. Snyder, Latham, a Cooperstown native who pursued a career in the Capital District,  died Sunday morning May 15, 2016, at her Latham home. She was 81.

Born in Cooperstown on Oct. 18, 1934, Betsy was the daughter of Clifford and Genevieve (Knapp) Snyder. She graduated from Cooperstown High School in the Class of 1952.

Betsy began working for Colonial Finance in Cooperstown. She moved to the Latham area in 1987 and was hired as the financial manager for the Latham Medical Group, a private group of physicians. She worked there until her retirement.

An avid mystery and romance novel reader, Betsy was a superb cook, and enjoyed knitting, ceramics and numerous other crafts. She loved animals, and in addition to her own dog, was the “adopted mother” to some of the dogs in her neighborhood.

She was a member of the Otsego-Hartwick-Arbutus Chapter No. 201 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Cooperstown, the Cooperstown Criterion Club, and the Cooperstown Native Daughters.

Betsy is survived by her sister, Dolores Coleman of Cooperstown and her nephews, Charles “Skip” Coleman (Laura), Clifford Coleman (Colleen), and Carter Coleman (Katie), all of Cooperstown. She is also survived by her cousin, Susan Rezen of Leesburg, Fla., and her dear and longtime friend, Edith Kufs of Cohoes.

Funeral and committal services will be private.

In recognition of Betsy’s love of animals, expressions of sympathy may be made in Betsy’s memory to the Susquehanna Animal Shelter, 4841 St. Highway 28, Cooperstown, NY 13326.

Arrangements are under the care of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown.
