Bonnie Canning Hofmann, 64

COOPERSTOWN – Bonnie Canning Hofmann, 64, formerly of Cooperstown, a Brookwood School founding board member, passed away on Dec. 25, 2018, at her home in Hawaii after a long illness.

Bonnie was born on July 19, 1954, in Brooklyn, where she grew up.  She attended the University of Stony Brook and SUNY Plattsburgh, where she received her nursing degree.

She loved her community and dedicated much of her time to the preservation of Cooperstown; Bonnie was well known for her influence in the conservation of Otsego Lake and surrounding areas.

Bonnie was a tenacious founding board member and benefactor to The Brookwood School.  She was a core contributor to the vision that helped ensure the success of the school in the community.  She had a gift for seeing and validating everyone’s point of view.  She is treasured by those who worked alongside her-selfless, energetic, passionate and full of good humor.

She later moved to New York City with her family and continued her involvement with her community.  She was a giving person and was known by all for her kindness and generosity.  Bonnie always kept her roots in Cooperstown and would return to her home during the summers.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Bruno;  children, Erin Canning,                     Oliver Hofmann,  Tatjana Hofmann and Ina Hofmann; her grandson, Joel.

There will  be a celebration of her life in the early part of the summer of 2019, at the lake in Cooperstown, her favorite place.
