ONEONTA – The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will honor Pathfinder Village and funeral director and community leader Les Grummons at its annual gala at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Foothill Performing Arts Center.

Pathfinder will be named as Distinguished Business and Grummons as Citizen of the Year.

Pathfinder Village, based in Edmeston, has a four decades’ long commitment to providing community-based and individualized service to residents with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities.  It employs more than 200 people.

Les Grummons of the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home in Oneonta is the recipient of the Eugene A. Bettiol, Jr., and the Distinguished Citizen Award from Catskill Area Hospice $ Palliative Care.  Since 2002 this award has been given to Otsego County citizens who have made a long-term impact on our region and who have given back to the community through their businesses.

As a commander of the Oneonta Vets’ Club, he organized the Memorial Day Parade, he was a two-term alderman, and serves on boards of Catholic Charities, St. Mary’s Church and Catskill Area Hospice. As an airport commissioner, Les Grummons assisted with the Oneonta Municipal Airport’s 50th Anniversary.

The theme of this year’s gala is “Top Hats and Tiaras,” and attendees are welcome to dress in black or white business attire, complete with top hat or tiara.
