ONEONTA – A graveside service is planned Thursday, June 30, for Christine S. Lent, 88, a former longtime aide in Oneonta city schools who passed away June 7, 2016, at Fox Nursing Home. The service will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, Otego.

She was born Jan. 7, 1928, in Oyster Bay, the daughter of Harold J. Scrivener, Sr. and Christine (O’Rourke) Scrivener.

Christine graduated from Hempstead High School in June 1946.   She married Harold F. Lent on July 23, 1955, in Gilbertsville.

She was an office worker at Scintilla in Sidney, then as a noon aide for 39 years at the Center Street School.

Christine was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, Harold Lent of Oneonta, survivors include three children, Robert and Nancy Lent of Oneonta, Kathleen and Jerry Parsons of Sharon Springs, and Jeffrey and Deidre Lent of Unadilla; grandchildren David and Ruth Parsons, Daniel and Chris Parsons, Amy Stott, Ryan Lent and Tori Hansen, Thomas Lent, Robert and Sandy Lent; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Lucas, Jacob, Alec, Max, Katelyn, Ashley, Jonathan; great-great grandchildren, Mia and Trenton; her brother, James and Nadine Scrivener; several nieces and nephews, and Bogey the cat.

She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Scrivener, and two sisters, Florence Acerra and Ruth Hedler.

There will be no calling hours.

Donations in memory of Christine may be sent to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Riverside Students Plant Apple Trees, Help Restore Piece of Oneonta History ONEONTA On Friday, April 28, the City of Oneonta planted an apple orchard on the Swart-Wilcox House Museum property with the help of Riverside Elementary School students.
