Cooperstown Central School held its annual Kathleen Galland-Bennett Third Grade Track Meet on Wednesday, May 26, at the elementary school in Cooperstown. Students were chosen by their peers for demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship during this event.

Clark Sports Center to offer summer clinics

Members 12 and older now allowed to work out

With coronavirus protocols lifted in July and with the gym reopened to kids, the Clark Sports Center announced this week that it will offer summer sports clinics for campers.

The sports and adventure clinics are open to kids age 12 to 18.

Adventure classes will be offered in mountain biking fundamentals, advanced mountain biking, climbing and kayak rolling, leadership.

Sports classes will be offered in youth strength, basketball skills, football for linemen, football skills and plyometrics or jumping training.

There will also be aquatics classes in competitive swimming, dry land training for swimming and junior lifeguard training.

In addition, there is a bowling clinic.

Members get discounts on the clinics. Registation is required.

The gym is now open to members age 12 and older.

Reservations are no longer required for most parts of the gym. However, they are still needed for the fitness center.

Masks are required for unvaccinated members.

The gym is also planning to bring back events in the late summer and fall, including the 9/11 Hero 5K on Saturday, Sept. 4, and the Coop Loop 5k and 10K races on Sunday, Oct. 31.

The gym will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 8, for the 2020/2021 National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Induction. It will also close the remainder of Labor Day week for the annual cleaning.
