CORNING PLANS

$11M EXPANSION,

ASSURES 175 JOBS

Corning’s plant in Oneonta, which is observing its 50th anniversary, is planning an $11 million expansion; in exchange, it is guaranteeing its 175 manufacturing jobs will continue to exist for another 15 years, Otsego Now CEO Jody Zakrevsky told the county Board of Representatives this morning as part of his organization’s annual report. Otsego Now – the county’s IDA – approved a 15-year PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes), a sales-tax exemption and obtained a $1 million Empire State Development grant.  In return, Corning is assuring the jobs will be in place for another 15 years.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
