Customers Still Without Power After Severe Storm

OTSEGO COUNTY—Otsego Electric Cooperative’s website reports 217 power outages as of 4:55 p.m., following severe thunderstorm activity earlier in the day. The breakdown of outages is as follows: Town of Columbia: 35; Town of Exeter: 27; Town of Laurens: 1; Town of Morris: 5; Town of Otsego: 133; Town of Springfield: 13; and Unknown: 3. New York State Electric and Gas is currently showing 684 customers without power in Otsego County. Parts of the Village of Cooperstown were without power for several hours this afternoon, including Iron String Press Inc., likely due to a tree downed by the storm on Chestnut Street.

  1. There are so many trees in Cooperstown that dead or close to being dead, it’s no wonder there are trees down with the storms. I was recently in the hospital there and was shocked when I was released and rode home. There are so many that are close to the roads and power lines there. Scary driving through those roads. Oh, and those trees are Not pretty!!
