IN MEMORIAM: David H. Thompson, 80;

Marine, Seaway Machinist, Truck Driver

SOUTH VALLEY – David H. Thompson, 80, a Marine, a machinist on the St. Lawrence Seaway and truck driver, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 15, 1938, to Clyde and Grace Thompson.

In addition to working on the St. Lawrence Seaway, Dave was dairy farmer, and truck driver for Chemical Leaman, Huntington and Yellow Freight.

Dave had a lifelong love of sports, particularly high school and college basketball.  He enjoyed attending his granddaughter’s games. He took a lot of pride in the accomplishments of each of his sons as athletes and sportsmen.

He also enjoyed stock car racing and sharing stories about his many years of driving. He displayed extreme dedication to the South Valley Christian Church.

Dave was predeceased by both of his parents and brothers Leland and Willis.

Dave is survived by Sharon, his wife of 52 years; sons Keith (Daphne), Tom (Traci), and Aaron; granddaughter Elizabeth; sister Nancy (Larry) Prill; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

Calling hours will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at South Valley Christian Church, followed by funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the South Valley Christian Church.
