ONEONTA – The Greater Oneonta Historical Society today announced DJ and author Chuck D’Imperio will receive this year’s 2015 Albert E. Morris Award.

The award will be presented at a reception 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Oneonta History Center, 183 Main St.  The public is welcome.

D’Imperio is the 20th recipient of the award, named in honor of the city of Oneonta’s first mayor.  The honoree will be recognized for his promotion of local history in general and Oneonta history in particular.

Many of his seven books deal with local history, according to the announcement.  His radio programs, his newspaper column, and his online and social media presence help to educate the public about Oneonta history.

“History is about story telling and there’s not a better story teller in our area than Chuck,” said GOHS Executive Director Bob Brzozowski.  “He makes history come alive.”
