Farmers Eligible For Loans

From Last Summer’s Storm

COOPERSTOWN – Otsego County farmers have been declared eligible for emergency loans as a result of “severe storms and flooding” on Aug. 13-15, the USDA announced today.

Loan applications must be submitted to the Farm Service Agency by next June 1.

Under the FSA Emergency Loan Programs, farmers who can’t receive loans from private commercial lenders may receive loans for physical damage and production losses up to up to $500,000.  The rate is 3.75 percent.
