Final Pioneer Street Repaving

Begins Tuesday In Cooperstown

Weather permitting, final paving of Cooperstown’s Pioneer Street between Lake and Church will resume Tuesday, April 24, according to Public Works Superintendent Mitch Hotaling.   Tuesday, there will be no parking on Pioneer from Elm Street to Otsego Lake, but parking will be restored as work continues during the day.  Last fall, the $1.2 million reconstruction of Pioneer Street, including replacement of water and sewer lines dating to the 1880s, took place between Columbus Day Weekend and when winter arrived in earnest in December.  This year, a federally funded downtown project will begin this fall at Chestnut and Main, including the upgrade of the village’s sole traffic light.  The flag at Pioneer and Main was at half-staff today in honor of former First Lady Barbara Bush, who died Monday.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
