IN MEMORIAM: Gordon L. Finch, 78;

From Age 10, Dedicated Dairy Farmer

SIDNEY CENTER – Gordon L. Finch, Sr. 78, a devoted dairy farmer since age 10 – all he wanted for his birthday was a dairy pail and stool for milking – passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Fox Hospital with his family at his side.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1940, in Sidney, to Elwood and Marian Finch.  He married the former Carole A. Smith on Dec. 17, 1960, in Sidney; she survives him.

He was a successful lifetime dairy farmer in Sidney Center.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Carole, he is survived by two children, Barb Finch and Dennis Baldwin, Sidney Center, and Gordon L. Finch Jr. and Tasha Charles, Masonville, (who will be married July 13); four grandchildren, Shonie, Kyle, Devin and Trevor, one great-grandchild, Travis (Little Bit); sister, Charlene (Ken) and her two daughters, Brenda and Johnna; brothers, Ken (Dot), Pete (Sue), Duke (Sonnie), and also several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, and brother, Ernie.

A Celebration of His Life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at The Shop.
