HARB Briefed On Group’s Plans

To Renovate Historic Stone Row

The 53 Pioneer Group, seeking to restore a historic stone row home, one of the oldest buildings in Cooperstown, was advised last evening it will need a structural report from an engineer before receiving approval from the village's Historic Preservation & Architectural Review Board, according to the minutes of the meeting. 53 Pioneer acquired the property which is attached to the Smithy Pioneer Gallery, from the gallery, with the idea of redeveloping it for some arts-related purpose. Topsy McCarty of Cooperstown appeared on behalf of the new owners and briefed the HARB on plans for the interior. HARB Chair Liz Callahan noted that her board's purview only extends to the exterior. The two-centuries-old building has had a marked bow in front wall for decades now. (AllOTSEGO.com photo)
