CSO Conductor Contest Raises Record $46,321

Ian Austin/HOMETOWN ONEONTA  –  Though Al Rubin, owner, A&D Transport Services, ultimately took the baton to conduct “Stars & Stripes Forever,” he was helped by Cindy Donaldson, OMS choral music director, left, and Libby Cudmore, managing editor, Hometown Oneonta, The Freeman’s Journal and AllOtsego.com, in raising a record-setting $46,321 for the Catskill Symphony Orchestra during the annual Cabaret Concert on Saturday, March 9, at SUNY Oneonta.

Ian Austin/HOMETOWN ONEONTA – Maddie Hurley, Cherry Valley, and Chloe Bellcourt, Cooperstown, were on Main Street, Oneonta, Saturday, March 9, to sample a few of the dozens of craft beers available at Brewery Ommegang’s Snommegang.

Mancuso, Avolio, Named To Dean’s List

Logan J. Mancuso of Oneonta, a member of the Class of 2019 and a neuroscience major was named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the Fall 2018 semester at St. Lawrence University.
Also named was Alexander D. Avolio, New Berlin. Avolio is a member of the Class of 2019 and is majoring in geology.

County Chamber celebrates businesses, leaders with 2021 prizes The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce this week named Five-Star Subaru’s Ben Guenther as its Eugene A. Bettiol, Jr., Distinguished Person of the Year as part of its year-end award ceremony. Chamber officials stopped by Five-Star and other award winners on December 21 and 22 in surprise visits to present framed certificates to this year’s honorees. The Chamber’s Board of Directors and local citizens met December 1 to wade through multiple nominations in each category, with the Board choosing winners on December 15.
