Josephine M. Gilmour

Oneonta – Josephine M. Gilmour, 96, passed away November 8, 2021 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

She was born March 13, 1925 in Oneonta, the daughter of Selime “Sam” and Betty (Shamas) Monser.

Josie graduated from Oneonta High School

She married Carl Gilmour on November 30, 1952.

Josie started volunteering at A.O. Fox Hospital in 1964 and sadly had to stop in 2020 due to Covid restrictions.  She worked for Kresge Five & Dime, the Defense Plant and Lull & Irons Optical for 25 years.  In 1972 she became a co-owner of the Pyramid Liquor store.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Rodney) Clarkson of Goodyear Lake; grandson, Mark (Michelle) Hoosier of South Carolina; brothers, George Monser and Philip Monser; many nieces, nephews, neighbors and most of all her canine friends.

Predeceased by her parents; husband Carl in 1986; sister, Jane Hazzard; brother, Jerry Monser.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Glenwood Cemetery in Oneonta, with the Rev. Joel Shue, officiating.
