IN MEMORIAM: Lawrence P. Curry Jr., 79;

From Long Island, Built Second Career Here

Lawrence Paul Curry Jr.

MILFORD – The memorial service was Sunday for Lawrence (Larry) Paul Curry, 79, of Milford, who lost his courageous battle against cancer on July 31, 2019. He passed peacefully at his home in the arms of his beloved “partner-in-crime” Sabine Curry.

Larry was born on July 9, 1940, in East Meadow, Long Island, and was raised in Babylon. As a young man, he lived in Bohemia and West Sayville where he worked for Suffolk County DPW for 25 years. During his time on The Island, you could always find him on the water. He was a clammer, a fisherman, and finally, the owner of Larry’s Boat Transport.

In 1986, he relocated his family to Upstate New York, eventually settling in Milford, where he would spend almost three decades, as an excavator, plow driver, and many other business ventures. He was scrappy, hardworking, and did whatever it took to provide for his family.

In addition to his wife, Sabine, who was Milford village mayor for many years, he leaves behind his four daughters; Amanda Meeson (Douglas) of Stratford, Conn., Lisa Curry (Brian Burgher) of Milford, Laurie Curry (Roger), and Debbie Dowling (Tommy). He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Jordyn, Bella, Sophia, Reggie, Quincy, Kevin, Katie, Kyle, Megan and Michael, and a great-granddaughter Madison. He also leaves behind sisters and brothers, notably his sisters Patricia Crispi (Anthony), and Marie Lang (Gil), in addition to many loved family members, and countless friends.

Larry was a one of a kind, crazy, gentle soul and a true force of light and laughter in our world. He leaves us now, no doubt, soaring to heaven to raise some hell! May he ride his Harley forever in the sky…soar high.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Milford Fire Department (63 S. Main Street Milford NY 13807) or Friends of the Milford Parks (PO Box 1 Milford NY 13807).
