IN MEMORIAM: Maynard E. Pier, 98;

World War II Vet Lives In Schenevus

SCHENEVUS – Maynard Edwin Pier, a longtime resident of Schenevus and World War II veteran, passed away Nov. 6, 2019.

He was born on June 11, 1921, the son of Clarence and Gladys Pier, and is survived by his brother, Millard and several nieces and nephews.

Maynard worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Corp. in Nyack and resided his last five years at the state Veterans Home in Oxford.  Maynard served in World War II from 1942 to 1945 in the Army 748th Tank Battalion, which fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

A military graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2019 at the Schenevus Cemetery, 67 Main St., Schenevus, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle officiating.
