Letter from Chip Northrup
Take Riley To Task for Recent Vote
Our local Congressman, Josh Riley—after taking more than $170,000.00 from AIPAC, the de facto Israeli lobby in Washington, just voted with almost all of the Republicans to withhold federal funding from colleges and universities that they deem insufficiently deferential to one particular foreign country: Israel. Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was among the 167 Democrats to vote “no” alongside two courageous Republicans: Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Warren Davidson of Ohio.
Other than being a complete First Amendment violation of the students’ and the university’s freedom of speech, it places Mr. Riley in the bizarre position of putting the interest of a foreign country over those of his constituents, namely the faculty and students at 10 colleges and universities, including Cornell, Ithaca College, Hartwick, and SUNY Oneonta.
Approximately 100,000 students plus faculty, rounded to say 170,000—or about one vote for every genocidal dollar that Riley took from the Zionist lobby. By contrast, our congresswoman in Texas voted a resounding “H— no !” on behalf of the Constitution, the colleges and universities in her district, and the American taxpayers. She voted for America first and for at least a shred of compassion and common sense.
