Driver’s Multi-Crash Spree

Ends When Truck Hits Tree

ONEONTA – An Otego man was arrested Wednesday for leaving the scene of a crash in Oneonta, then crashing three more times before running his truck into a tree on Route 8, Otego, sheriff’s deputies report.

Deputies identified the suspect in the Wednesday incidents as Robert H. Braun, 53, Otego.

In the Town of Oneonta, he was charged with passing steady red arrow, passing in no-passing zone, two counts leaving the scene of property-damage accident, two counts of following too closely, and failure to keep right.

In the Town of Otego, he was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, no seatbelt, refusal to take a breath pre-screening test, and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Braun was arraigned in the Otego Town Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $2,500 cash/$5,000 Bond. Arraignment in the Town of Oneonta is to be determined.
