CREW CLEARS ABUTMENTS

Overnight Floods

Close Rt. 51 Span

blue-logoMORRIS – The Route 51 bridge at County Route 3 in Otsego County between Mount Upton and Morris is closed to remove sand and sediment around the abutments due to heavy overnight rains, the state DOT announced.

County Route 18 will serve as the detour for this closure. DOT expects to complete the Route 51 repairs in time to reopen this portion of roadway sometime today.

The DOT also announced the closure of Route 8 near Whitestore, Chenango County, due to a washed out culvert and utilities. A detour will guide motorists using County Route 18. NYSDOT is working to restore at least one lane of alternating traffic.

DOT maintenance forces have been on scene since the overnight hours working to restore access to closed roadways, and bridge inspection teams are evaluating structures for safety.
