Rain Can’t Steal Thunder

Of Cooperstown Graduation

On the lawn of the Fenimore Art Museum this afternoon, graduates at the 138th Commencement of Cooperstown Central School may have arrived in the rain, but they left in the sun. A passing afternoon storm had students and onlookers holding their breath, but, as the rain came down and umbrellas went up, it became clear the show would go on. Applause came when clouds eventually cleared and the sun came out in time for the issuing of diplomas. Above, Maria Noto flashes a smile as she and her fellow classmates stand in the rain during the processional. Below, the crowd cheers as caps and spirits soar into sunny skies  as the CCS Class of ’17 are announced as being officially graduated. (Ian Austin/AllOTSEGO.com)
