ISSUE & DEBATE

Read Consultant Report,

Decide About Fire Pact

The editorial in this week’s Hometown Oneonta and The Freeman’s Journal urges the Town of Oneonta Fire District and City Hall to settle the lengthy negotiation and agree on a new contract that ensures fire district residents will continue to have the professional protection of the city’s fire department.  If not, we conclude, replace the commissioners in the next election.

That’s our opinion, and it’s your right to disagree. Either way, consider reading the “Proposed Fire Department Funding Approach for the City of Oneonta Fire Department,” prepared by VFIS consultants of York, Pa., that outlines the issues and proposes an equitable outcome.
