Library Programs Deserve Praise

The Four County Library System is pleased to share that several local libraries have had success with programs supported by special funding. Each year, 4CLS offers an Outreach Mini-Grant opportunity to the member libraries within its service area of Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties.

The following libraries recently reported success with the funds they received in 2025:

  • George F. Johnson Memorial Library (Endicott) offered a six-week job preparation program and job fair, presented in conjunction with Broome Tioga Workforce.
  • New Berlin Library is providing seasonal art classes to residents of the Chase Nursing Home.
  • Nineveh Public Library hosts a monthly Art Club for older adults in the community.
  • Richfield Springs Public Library introduced Makerspace Programming with specialized equipment that has also allowed them to create materials for take-home kits.
  • Roxbury Library coordinated a free Summer in the Park event with live animals, music and local organizations, including the school district’s CROP program participants.
  • Stamford Library offered a free, eight-week, all-ages guitar workshop series, culminating in a recital for the community.
  • Vestal Public Library hosted a series of inclusive fitness classes and created “Be Fit Kits” for patrons to practice fitness activities at home.
  • Your Home Public Library (Johnson City), in conjunction with Binghamton University, provided free STEM Kits designed to spark curiosity and hands-on learning for children and families.

The Four County Library System enthusiastically supports these efforts by member libraries to create innovative programming that responds to local needs and offers opportunities for enrichment.
