Running For Young Athletes

In Sixth Ward Tailgate 5K

From left: Steve Ickler, Franklin, Mark Andrews, Middlefield, Simon Mortimer, Australia, and Julie and Nate Gunlock, Mount Upton, take off with 120 other runners at the second annual Tailgate 5K run this morning at the Sixth Ward Athletic Club. Runners were encouraged to wear a jersey of their favorite football team.  Thomas Slicer, Oneonta, came in first place with a time of 19:06, followed by Simon Mortimer, Australia, and Frank Willsey, Cooperstown. All proceeds from the race go towards funding youth sports and athletics through the Sixth Ward Athletic Club. (Ian Austin/AllOTSEGO.com)
