IN MEMORIAM: Ruth Donna Currie,

69; Nurse at Fox For 40 Years

ONEONTA – Ruth Donna Currie, 69, passed away June 24, 2016 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, after a long battle with cancer.

Donna was born April 6, 1947 in Oneonta, the daughter of Harry and Ruth (Daily) Palmer.  She was one of six, having four brothers and one sister.

Donna was a LPN having been employed for 47 years with A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, the Stamford Health Clinic and retiring 3 years ago from Southeastern Otsego Health Clinic in Worcester.

She attended the Southside Wesleyan Church where she enjoyed participating in the church craft club.  Donna most especially enjoyed Sunday morning coffee with her Fox nursing friends.  She dearly loved her cats, Durwood and Tiffany and watching the Hummingbirds from her window.

Donna is survived by her husband, Walter F. Currie of Oneonta; her son, Shawn and Robin McLean of Mooers; grandchildren, Amanda Horth and Jason Durgan, Nathan McLean and Kelby Moore, and Collette McLean; great-grandchildren, Caleb Durgan, Aubrey McLean-Ouimette, Stella McLean, and Kaitlyn Durgan; family members, Gary (Cathy) McLean, Sue (John) Parker, Dennis (Mary) McLean, Scott (Laura) McLean and Michelle (Michael) Melia; several nieces and nephews.

Many special friends who were there for her when she needed them most, Steve and Irene Johnson, Harry and Analee Johnson, Susan Hitchcock, Barbara Dolan, Mary Tuthill, Dottie Zeh, Donna Duggleby and Wendy Decker; and a special thank you to her friends and the second floor staff at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital for kindness shown to Donna, her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Paul Allen McLean.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 9, at the Southside Wesleyan Church 5300 State Highway 23, Oneonta, with the Rev. Eric Santamont, officiating.

Interment will be at the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
