Sheriff Issues Warning:

Stay Off Roads Tonight

COOPERSTOWN – With Winter Storm Harper expected to bring snow to Otsego County tonight, Sheriff Richard J. Devlin Jr. has issued a “No Unnecessary Travel Advisory” for the county, effective 6 p.m. tonight until 6 p.m. Sunday night.

Roads are not closed at this time, but hazardous driving conditions are likely to exist, including poor visibility, slippery roads, blowing and/or drifting snow. Devlin said that the advisory could be upgraded as the storm progressed.

If driving becomes necessary, the Sheriff advised that drivers use “extreme caution” and to carry blankets, a shovel, a phone charger and gas in your car, and to dress in layers, including a hat, gloves and and scarf, to avoid frostbite and hypothermia.
