ONEONTA – Sandy Mathes, Otsego County’s “single point of contact” for economic development, will discuss “The Good, the Bad & the Ugly” of attracting jobs here at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Carriage House in Southside Oneonta, 790 Southside Drive.

The forum is hosted by Citizen Voices, and the public is welcome.

A little more than a year into a three-year process, Mathes will talk about progress, issues and roadblocks.  Additionally, representatives of Brooks House of BBQ and Northern Eagle Beverages, who have been assisted by Mathes’ office, will discuss their expansions.

“Economic Development is key to the strategic growth of our schools, population and family resources,” said Citizen Voices co-founder Bob Harlem of Oneonta Block. “We all need to get behind our Economic Development team.”

As part of his contract with the IDA, Mathes is responsible for facilitating the preparation of a strategic economic development plan, which include Greenfield site preparation, redevelopment opportunities and the re-use of vacant buildings.
