SUNY Donates 120 Cubic Yards

Of Student Goods For ‘Free Sale’

The social hall of St. James Chuch was a flurry of activity this morning as Therese Adolfsen, Schnevus, Walter Fredricks, Oneonta, Bethany Washburn, Laurens and 200 others came out to look through unwanted items donated donated by SUNY students moving out of the dorms this past weekend. In order to combat the amount of refuse going into landfills, the college recently instituted the donation program, and was able to collect 120 cubic yards of materials including TV's, kitchen appliances, clothing, area rugs, food, furniture and more, all given away for free. The social hall of St. James Episcopal Church, Oneonta, was a flurry of activity this morning at the “SUNY Free Sale,” where Therese Adolfsen, Schenevus, Walter Fredricks, Oneonta, Bethany Washburn, Laurens, and 200 others came out to look through items donated by departing SUNY Oneonta students. Last year, the college launched the donation program so the community might benefit from perfectly good items being thrown away by departing students.  Last weekend, the donations filled four dumpsters with 120 cubic yards of TVs, kitchen appliances, clothing, area rugs, food, furniture and more, all given away for free.
