Laurens/Milford Softball Defeats Roxbury
MILFORD—Laurens/Milford softball beat Roxbury 13-5 in the opening game of the Weir/Chase Tournament, formerly called the Milford Tournament, on May 13. Bella Garlick hit a double and drove in two RBI. Brooke Mann earned the win in the circle after striking out nine batters in four innings.
Cooperstown Softball Crushes Clinton
COOPERSTOWN—The Cooperstown Central School softball team beat Clinton 18-4 on May 15. The Hawkeyes racked up two triples and seven doubles. Katie Crippen hit a triple, three doubles and three RBI. Dani Seamon made four hits and four RBI. Savannah Kirkby hit five RBI. Emerson Lippitt earned the win in the circle, striking out five and allowing five hits. Cooperstown moved to 11-2 for the season and 8-1 in the Center State Conference.
Unatego/Franklin Baseball Defeats Norwich
OTEGO—Unatego/Franklin baseball defeated Norwich 4-3 with a walk-off on May 15. Norwich tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh, but U/F ended the game with a run in the bottom of the inning. Logan Utter went 3-for-4, including a triple and a home run. Xander Johnson struck out 14 over six innings for U/F. Brayden Nichols earned the win.

Oneonta Baseball Drops SUNYAC Opener
ONEONTA—SUNY Oneonta baseball fell 12-2 to Brockport in the first game of the double-elimination State University of New York Athletic Conference Tournament on May 11. The Red Dragons were unable to gain any traction on offense. They will face Oswego on May 12.
Softball Defeats Plattsburgh to Stay Afloat in Tournament
ONEONTA—The SUNY Oneonta softball team defeated Plattsburgh in extra innings to stay in the SUNYAC Tournament on May 11. The Red Dragons had already fallen 3-1 to one-seeded New Paltz in the first game of the double-elimination playoffs. Plattsburgh tied the game at 2 in the fifth inning, but consecutive doubles by graduate student Megan Palmatier and senior Marissa Nagel won the game in the eighth inning. Sophomore Angelina Scalere picked up the win after pitching the last three innings with four strikeouts and allowing one hit.
Hawkeyes Tennis Beats Waterville
COOPERSTOWN—Cooperstown Central School tennis defeated Waterville 4-1 on the road on May 10. Second singles Bianca Adam, third singles Ollie Wasson, and both doubles teams (Henry Ayers/Albert Caulier and Alexis Wolfe/Charlie Lambert) defeated their opponents.

Cooperstown Girls Track and Field Posts Strong Week
COOPERSTOWN—The Cooperstown Central School track program had a great week, girls varsity coach Josie Rusk said in her report on May 2. The girls put up strong performances in a rainy meet at Chittenango on Saturday, April 29. Claire Jensen placed first in the 400m and fourth in the 100m. On Tuesday, May 2, the team returned to the track in cold and misty conditions. Jensen finished first in the 200m and 400m. She joined Chiania Clarke, Cecilia Franck and Mia Pelcer to win the 4x100m relay. Margaret Raffo and Annie Walker took first and second place in the 3000m. They were joined by Polly Kennedy and Annelise Jensen in the 4×800. Cooper Bradley won the high jump and the 100m hurdles.
Oneonta Track and Field Succeeds at Cortland
ONEONTA—The SUNY Oneonta track and field teams put up successful performances at the Cortland Qualifier meet on April 30. This was the final meet before Oneonta hosts the SUNYAC championships on May 5 and 6. Junior Sierra Basco finished fourth in the women’s 1,500m, while Eion McCalin and Owen Sullivan took second and fourth in the men’s 1,600m, respectively. Josephine Alliano was second in the 100m hurdles with a personal record time of 16.55. Danielle Jackson won the 400m finals and placed second in the 100m finals. Cameron Sands took second place in the men’s 100m. Freshman Eva Woodworth won the women’s 800m. Junior Shane Marchese placed third in the 3,000m steeplechase.
