Tri-Valley League soccer
gets exciting as playoffs approach

It’s hard to believe but Oct. 16, is right around the corner. It’s a day I like to call “Soccer Saturday” as the Tri-Valley, Delaware and MAC leagues all hold their conference championship games at the Wright National Soccer Campus fields in Oneonta.

It is a great way to see some of the top teams from our area all in one location. Let’s take a look at how things are shaping up in the TVL as I am writing this Oct. 4.

Brother Finds Brother

On ‘Wall That Heals’

John Hartner of the Oneonta Vets’ Club, top photo, helps Angelo Solvin of Margaretville look for his brother Louis’ name on “The Wall That Heals,” the replica of Washington D.C.’s Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. that arrived at Oneonta’s Neahwa Park today.  Angelo was in the Fifth Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg in 1959-64.  Louis was killed by a sniper’s bullet in Vietnam in 1968.  Angelo Solvin found the name and, in lower photo is consoled by Hartner. The wall may be viewed 24 hours a day through 4 p.m. on Monday, Memorial Day.  (Ian Austin/AllOTSEGO.com)
