COLUMBUS – Troopers from the Oneonta Barracks deployed at Unadilla Motorcross responded at 8:53 p.m. Friday to a report a pedestrian had been struck by a car on nearby Route 8.

They then arrested the driver, Edward D. Burnett, 31, of Utica, for vehicular assault in the second degree, and for DWI while two passengers in the car were under 15, according to a press release from Troop C.

At Oneonta, Troop E Commander

ONEONTA – John J. Riordan, a retired state trooper who served in increasingly responsible positions in Troop C’s Oneonta barracks, then rising to commander of Troop E (Canandaigua), died Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany.   He was 80.

John was born in The Bronx Hospital, New York City on Nov. 8, 1936, to the late John J. and Catherine A. (Furey) Riordan.
