Five Star Urgent Care

Owner John Radford, M.D., Andrea Knowles, LouAnne Giangreco, M.D, and Patrick Sexton, Regional Practice Manager stand outside Five Star Urgent Care that opened this morning on Southside in Oneonta. The practice, located across from the Southside Mall, offers x-rays on site, tests for strep throat, mono, flue, RSV, pregnancy and more. They are also equipped to treat sprains, cuts and to administer stitches. “We understand that time is valuable,” said LouAnne Girangreco, “We aim to see people within 30 minutes. We want a warm, comforting environment for patients and their families, so we also offer toys, free arcade games and slushies.” Bob Wood, who attended the ribbon cutting, said “This is a real asset to our community and a great location. We are happy to welcome you.” They also partnered with A&D Taxi services to offer free rides for college students to and from the clinic when they show their student ID. Cutting the ribbon this morning at Oneonta’s renovated Foxcare Fitness are, from left, Jennie Gliha, Ryan Scott, Mary Hansen, Jeff Joyner, Louise Sandoli, Doug Decker, Seth Haight, Chris Raverra, Barbara Ann Heegan, Stephanie Paluch, Amanda Stanley, Al Rubin, Celeste Gray, Oneonta Town Supervisor Bob Wood, Dave Greene and Alan Sessions.  At right, tours of the facility in the Foxcare Center on Route 7 on Oneonta’s East End were led by Ryan Scott, showing off highlights of the gym – the new Strength & Conditioning Studio that features an Olympic lifting platform, a full suspension training rack, a flipping tire, sand bags, jump boxes, heavy bags, speed bags, heavy rope and more. The studio will always be open during business hours. “I’ve been to a lot of gyms in the area,” said Rubin after the tour, “And the equipment they have in there is as good as it gets.” Other upgrades include a new roof over the pool, new flooring and new machines. At an opening this afternoon, Hartwick students Arantza Orengo, Gabriella Davila and Hali VanValkenburg look at a three-dimensional cast paper and woodcut work by artist Stewart Nachmias, who shares a show with artist Gloria Garfinkel at Hartwick College’s Foreman Gallery. The Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday, noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., other times by appointment. The show runs through March 22nd. (Ian Austin/AllOTSEGO.com)

Debra Marcus, Mindy Staller, Linda Horovitz, Dorothy McKee, Barbara Ann Heegan and Anthony Wahl pose during a ceremonial ribbon cutting as the Otsego County Chamber welcomed Hearing Health USA to Oneonta this afternoon. They will provide diagnostic hearing evaluations and treatment in way of hearing aids for all ages. They have also been approved to serve veterans free of charge if they have been certified for hearing aids. Hearing Health USA will be holding complimentary hearing tests on July 18th and 19th from 8-4pm at 392 Chestnut St. in Oneonta. (Ian Austin/AllOTSEGO.com)
