This Christmas, Otego Sailor

Celebrating On USS Stennis

This Christmas, Navy Aviation Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class Trace Thayer, from Otego, is on duty aboard the USS John C. Stennis in the Arabian Sea.  Here, he paints an Environmental Control System Scoop on an F/A-18E Super Hornet, assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 151, in the hangar bay aboard the aircraft carrier. The John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of Naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
