Worshippers Fill Front Lawn

To Celebrate St. Mary’s 150th

Under smiling skies, the congregation of St. Mary’s “Our Lady of the Lake” Catholic Church in Cooperstown marked the parish’s 150th anniversary today with a commemorative mass on the lawn of the Elm Street church and social gathering to follow. In top photo, the Rev. John P. Rosson, pastor, surrounded by the current confirmation class, blesses the offerings. Lower left, state Sen. Jim Seward, R-Milford, presents a state Senate proclamation to Edna Chase, who chaired the organizing committee. Lower right, parishioner Madeline Sansevere sings the “Ave Maria” during communion. Brian Wrubleski of Mel’s at 22 catered the luncheon, which featured steak with blueberry sauce and other delicacies. Father Rosson also announced the parish’s new colors, light blue, in honor of the Blessed Virgin, and yellow. (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
